February 2005

Here’s to all the Mardi Gras revelers, Valentine lovers and Super Bowl sports fans.   Yes, it’s happening all at once this year, in less than 2 weeks anyway.

The Country Roads Krewe took a trip to New Orleans to catch a parade and a few beads.  The parade schedules are posted in local publications, but chances are good that for the 12 days before Mardi Gras, meaning Fat Tuesday, parades will be scheduled daily and/or nightly.

A trip down the famed Bourbon Street produced the photo of the month in regal Mardi Gras colors.  Purple is symbolic of justice, gold represents power and green for faith…after all this is a religious holiday.  A sign on a church marquis reminds us “know the meaning of the traditions” passed down to us by the French explorers.

The revelry ends abruptly at midnight on Fat Tuesday, everything stops, and the next day, Ash Wednesday, the same crowds over flow the churches.

Along your Country Roads trip, enjoy some of Louisiana’s great dining experiences.  For our personal recommendations from BBQ to fine dining  click here --->  http://www.askada.com/us/louisiana/goodeatsla.htm
